The People Who Grow Our Cassava

Cassava puts food on the table and pays school fees in farming communities across Ghana. Our business depends on those farmers doing well, so we hold ourselves to six commitments.

Six commitments

What We Owe the Communities We Buy From

  • 01

    Fair, Clear Prices

Prices and quality terms agreed with farmers before planting, and payment made on time.

  • 02

    A Market Before Planting

Agreeing purchases early gives farmers the confidence to plant and to invest in their farms.

  • 03

    Better Farm Practice

Guidance on planting material, harvest timing and record-keeping for the farmers we buy from.

  • 04

    Local Jobs

Collection, processing and packing create work in the communities where cassava grows.

  • 05

    Less Waste

Peels and other by-products go to uses such as animal feed and compost rather than being dumped.

  • 06

    Care for Water and Soil

Processing water handled responsibly, and farm practice that protects the soil for the next crop.

Honest reporting

What We Will Measure and Report

We will publish these figures once we have a full season of records. We would rather report real numbers later than estimates now.

Number and location of the farmers in our supply base.

    Published after a full season

  • Payments on time

Share of farmer payments made on the agreed date.

  • Product shipped

Volumes by product, traced lot by lot.
