Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions buyers ask us before a first order. If yours is not here, ask us directly.

Ordering

Is there a minimum order?

We do not publish one figure, because it depends on the product and how it ships. For export, most buyers start with a full container or a trial order agreed with us. Tell us what you need and we will tell you plainly what we can do.

Can I have samples before I order?

Yes. Samples come before the first order, so your own team can test them. We agree the sample size and the courier arrangement when you ask.

How long does an order take?

It depends on the product, the quantity and the time of year. We plan every order against the harvest and confirm the dates in writing before production starts. If weather or harvest puts a date at risk, we tell you early.

Can you make a product or grade that is not on your list?

Send us your specification. We will say plainly whether we can supply it, how we would make it and what samples we can send.

Prices, Payment and Terms

Why are there no prices on the website?

Prices depend on the grade, the quantity, the packing, the Incoterms rule and the season. We quote each order in writing, with the currency stated.

Which currencies do you quote in?

Every price carries its ISO currency code. Export orders are usually quoted in USD; orders in Ghana in GHS. Another currency can be agreed.

What payment terms do you offer?

Payment terms are agreed in writing in each contract, before production. We will discuss the options with you when we quote.

Which Incoterms do you use?

We quote on the rule agreed with you, for example FOB (you arrange the sea freight from a Ghanaian port) or CIF (we arrange freight and insurance to your port). The Export page explains the common rules in plain words.

Quality and Documents

How do you check quality?

At four points: at intake, during processing, before packing and before shipping. Each lot is tested against the specification agreed with you, and a lot that fails is held back, never shipped. A sample of every lot is kept.

Which documents come with an export order?

Usually a commercial invoice, packing list, phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, certificate of analysis and bill of lading. The exact list depends on the product and your country, and we confirm it with you before the first shipment.

Is cassava safe? I have read about cyanide.

Raw cassava contains natural compounds that can release cyanide. Peeling, grating, fermenting, pressing, drying and roasting remove most of them, which is why cassava has been eaten safely for generations.

We test residual cyanide on food and feed lots against the limit set by the destination market, and the result is on the certificate of analysis.

Is your cassava flour gluten-free?

Cassava contains no gluten. If you plan to sell a product labelled gluten-free, we agree with you the testing your market requires for that claim.

Do you hold certifications?

We list a certification on this website only once we hold it. Tell us which standards your market or your customers require, and we will tell you where we stand.

How long does the product keep?

Dried products keep well when stored dry, off the floor and out of the sun. The shelf life for your product and packing goes on the specification sheet we agree with you. Fresh roots must be processed within two to three days of harvest.
