Staple food
Gari
Roasted, fermented cassava granules: a West African staple that stores well.
What it is
About Our Gari
Gari is grated cassava that is fermented, pressed, sieved and roasted until it becomes dry, crisp granules. It keeps for months when stored dry and is eaten across West Africa, soaked, as eba, or as a quick meal. For shops and distributors serving West African communities abroad, it is one of the most asked-for products on the shelf.

Container calculator
How Much Fits in a Container?
A planning estimate for first-time importers: choose a bag size and a container.
- About
- 728
- 25 kg bags per container
- About
- 18.2 t
- net product per container, limited by space
The assumptions behind this estimate
- Bagged gari stows at about 650 kg per cubic metre (our estimate).
- About 28 m³ of a 20 ft container is usable once bags are stacked with a loading margin.
- A working weight limit of 21 tonnes of cargo. The real limit depends on the shipping line, the container and road limits at each end.
- Jumbo bags usually load fewer tonnes than the figure shown, because they stack less tightly.
For planning only. Your quote, prepared with Williot Logistics, confirms the real load.
