How Much Fits in a Container?

A planning estimate for first-time importers: choose a bag size and a container.

The assumptions behind this estimate
  • Bagged dried cassava chips stows at about 450 kg per cubic metre (our estimate).
  • About 28 m³ of a 20 ft container is usable once bags are stacked with a loading margin.
  • A working weight limit of 21 tonnes of cargo. The real limit depends on the shipping line, the container and road limits at each end.
  • Jumbo bags usually load fewer tonnes than the figure shown, because they stack less tightly.

For planning only. Your quote, prepared with Williot Logistics, confirms the real load.
